Urine Examination
Advanced urinalysis — microscopy and culture testing to detect infections, kidney disease, and metabolic disorders at their earliest stages
Welcome to Urine Examination Services
A standard urine test (Urinalysis) is one of the most effective, non-invasive ways to assess your body's internal health. At Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, our clinical pathology lab uses advanced microscopic and microbiological techniques to detect urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney disease, and metabolic disorders like diabetes at their earliest stages.
Our Specialized Urine Tests
While a routine urine test checks for basic chemical properties, we offer advanced diagnostic evaluations for a deeper clinical picture:
Urine Microscopy
After analyzing the chemical composition of urine, a concentrated sample is examined under a microscope by our trained clinical pathologists.
What it detects: We look for microscopic elements that should not normally be present in your urine, such as red or white blood cells, bacteria, yeast, crystals (which can indicate kidney stones), and cellular casts.
Why it's done: It is a vital diagnostic tool for pinpointing the exact cause of kidney inflammation, bleeding in the urinary tract, and advanced infections.
Urine C/S (Culture and Sensitivity)
If an infection is suspected, a Culture and Sensitivity test takes diagnosis a step further. We place the urine sample in a special environment to encourage the growth of any bacteria or fungi present.
The Culture
Identifies the exact strain of bacteria causing your infection.
The Sensitivity
Tests various antibiotics against that specific bacteria to see which one destroys it most effectively.
Why it's done: This takes the guesswork out of treatment. It ensures your doctor prescribes the exact right antibiotic for stubborn, severe, or recurring UTIs, preventing antibiotic resistance and ensuring a faster recovery.
Patient Guide: Collecting a “Clean-Catch” Sample
For a Urine Culture & Sensitivity test to be accurate, the sample must be free of bacteria from the skin. We ask our patients to provide a “midstream clean-catch” sample.
Wash Your Hands— Prevents initial contamination.
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water before opening the sterile container provided by our lab.
Clean the Area— Use provided sterile wipes.
Use a sterile cleansing wipe to thoroughly clean the genital area.
Begin Urinating in the Toilet
Start to urinate directly into the toilet bowl for a few seconds. This flushes out any bacteria residing at the end of the urinary tract.
Catch the Midstream Sample
Without stopping the flow, bring the sterile cup into the urine stream and collect about 1 to 2 ounces (30–60 mL).
Seal and Submit
Finish urinating in the toilet, tightly screw the cap onto the sterile container without touching the inside, and hand it to our lab technician immediately.
Fast & Confidential Results
At Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, we prioritize your health and privacy. Urine microscopy results are generally available within hours, while Culture & Sensitivity reports take 48–72 hours to allow for bacterial growth.
